Aston Villa
BrentfordAston Villa host Brentford at Villa Park on Saturday in Premier League Round 6, with the two sides arriving in contrasting league positions. Brentford are fourth on nine points and still unbeaten after five matches, while Villa sit 16th with four points from one win, one draw and three defeats. The fixture sets Brentford's strong start against Villa's search for a consistent run.
Brentford carry unbeaten league start to Villa Park
Brentford have taken two wins and three draws from their opening five league games, scoring 10 and conceding four. Their latest league outing was a 3-0 home win over Chelsea, following another 3-0 victory over Tottenham and a 6-1 EFL Cup win at Birmingham.
Villa's league campaign has been more difficult, although they won 3-2 at Tottenham last time out. Earlier defeats to Brighton, Arsenal and Nottingham have left them with four goals scored and nine conceded.
Brentford missing key men as Villa face injuries
Brentford are without Nathan Collins (calf), Mikkel Damsgaard (ankle) and Dango Ouattara (illness), while Josh Dasilva, Kaye Furo, Mathias Jensen and Sepp van den Berg are also unavailable.
Collins and Damsgaard have been among Brentford's stronger recent performers. Aston Villa must cope without Leon Goretzka, Ian Maatsen and Amadou Onana, all ruled out through injury.
Recent meetings have been tight
Brentford have won the last two meetings 1-0, but Villa have four wins from the last 10 encounters, with three draws and three Brentford victories. Villa also hold an 18-13 goals advantage across that sequence. The most recent meeting at Villa Park ended in a 3-1 Villa win.
Villa Park test for Brentford's unbeaten run
Emiliano Buendia has been one of Villa's stronger recent performers, while Jaidon Anthony has stood out for Brentford. Villa have lost their last two home league matches, so improving at Villa Park will be central. Brentford's unbeaten start and recent head-to-head edge make them a dangerous visitor, even with key absences.
