Real Madrid bring the sharper early run

Real Madrid have opened the league season with wins over Espanyol, Real Sociedad and Malaga, scoring 10 goals and conceding only two. Their latest two victories were particularly convincing, 4-1 against Real Sociedad and 4-0 against Malaga. Betis began with successive 1-0 wins over Real Sociedad and Valencia before the heavy setback at Levante.

Antony and Mbappe lead the recent standouts

Antony has been one of Betis's stronger recent performers, with Abde Ezzalzouli and Pablo Fornals also prominent in their respective areas. For Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior have stood out, while Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde have also been among the visitors' stronger recent performers.

Draws have shaped the recent series

Five of the last 10 meetings between these sides ended level, with Real Madrid winning four and Betis one. The most recent meeting finished 1-1 in April, while Real Madrid won 5-1 at home in January. Seven of those 10 encounters produced fewer than three goals, underlining how often this fixture has been tight despite the occasional one-sided result.

Both sides carry a lengthy injury list

Betis have Diego Conde, Giovani Lo Celso, Jose Morante, Gonzalo Petit and Aitor Ruibal unavailable through injury. Real Madrid are without Raul Asencio, Eder Militao, Endrick, Ferland Mendy, Thiago Pitarch, Rodrygo and Aurelien Tchouameni. The visitors still arrive with the stronger start to the season, but Betis had won their first two league matches before the Levante defeat.
