West Ham
QPRWest Ham welcome QPR to London Stadium for the ninth round of the Championship, with the hosts sitting second in the table and their visitors sixth. Just two points separate the London clubs, although their recent results have followed rather different patterns. West Ham have been scoring freely, while QPR have built their position around a tighter defensive record.
West Ham's attacking run contrasts with QPR's draws
West Ham are unbeaten in their last six Championship matches, having put together four consecutive victories before drawing 2-2 away to Millwall. Their run included a 6-0 win over Wrexham and a 3-0 defeat of Derby. A 3-2 loss to Fulham in the EFL Cup interrupted that sequence across all competitions, but their league form remains strong.
QPR have drawn their last three league fixtures, sharing the points with Charlton, West Brom and Preston. They have conceded just seven goals in eight Championship games, compared with West Ham's 11, although their attacking return of ten goals is considerably lower than the hosts' 22.
Bowen and Mavropanos among West Ham's standouts
Konstantinos Mavropanos has been one of West Ham's strongest recent performers in central defence. Wingers Jarrod Bowen and Manor Solomon have also impressed, giving the hosts several players heading into the fixture in encouraging individual form.
For QPR, Glen Kamara has stood out in midfield, alongside Harvey Vale and Nicolas Madsen, who have also produced strong recent performances.
Both sides have absentees to manage
West Ham will be without Alphonse Areola because of a calf injury, while Tomas Soucek has an ankle problem and Joel Veltman is sidelined with a muscle injury. Mohamadou Kante is also unavailable following a red card.
QPR have several injury concerns of their own. Ilias Chair, Richard Kone and Tariq Lamptey are unavailable with muscle injuries, while Boy Kemper is sidelined by an ankle problem.
Recent meeting gives West Ham an encouraging reference
West Ham won the most recent meeting between the clubs, beating QPR 2-1 in the FA Cup in January 2026. Their current Championship scoring record adds to the hosts' positive preparation for this encounter.
QPR's defensive record and recent run of draws present a different challenge. The visitors have lost only once in eight league matches, giving West Ham a test against opponents who have generally proved difficult to beat.
